Yesterday's solar eclipse set against the most-fitting background.
To say it was wonderful would be an understatement.

Our PR department is incompetent and fired temporarily shortstaffed so I thought it would be best to use this public journal to make a few key announcements:

  • Lineford Ind. is proud to be a sponsor of the 1st DeLenfent's Tournament of Classes contributing generous resources and manpower to help make this historic event happen.

    Our Commitment to Excellence
The Lineford Ind. Board of Trustees is proud to sponsor the DeLenfent's Tournament of Classes. For decades, the board has supported individual ambitions and achievment, and it is in this spirit that Board has generously donated to the Tournament in hopes of promotiong excellence through competition and quality inter-class relations.

    Our Commitment to Class Harmony
Lineford Ind. is a long standing sponser of many key inter-class programs for the benefit of class harmony. From technical training and employment to education and promotion of non-violence, the Board believes that a society's greatest resource is its citizens, the greatest investment a citizen's potential. The DeLenfent Tournament is a great opportunity for citizens of diverse skill and opinion to influence each other and bring society to a higher level of quality.

  • Recent strikes and protests of unfair treatment by Lineford Ind. employees
The six deaths of company employees at the South End factory have been ruled accidental by police authorities. An appeasement A deal has been reached by Union leaders and Board representatives to higher managerial wages and provide proper insurance benefits for long-time employees. The endangerment and worker's compensation issues were dropped by Union leaders.

  • Continued Endorsement of SOL Corp.
No changes in the Board's investment porfolio are affected by the alleged SOL Corp. offenses. Continued endorsement of the company's efforts in the industry and elsewhere is not in question. The Board stands by its decision of naming SOL an industry leader vital and beneficial to the facilitation of higher technology.

In other news its so hard to find lasting investment below mid-level plans to branch out into surveillance technology are coming along beautifully. This coincides wonderfully with a new technology/job training program that is set to launch in the lowerclass in the future.

Ah.. It's hectic as usual in these offices without attractive personal aides.

[ooc note: sry for having him so inactive these past few weeks. Lets just say uh.. he's been busy keeping his mid-class employees down and other hypocritical things ^^']

Earlier today I was pulled into a debate with the Trade Minister on fine art and accused of having unrefined tastes. So I accompanied him to a modern gallery and added an upcoming artist to my list of beneficiaries. The minister laughed at my selection, however--

if appreciation of these constitutes 'unrefined' taste )

I don't mind the taste at all. :)

I have to see to a rather troublesome matter at one of our factories do they honestly think a strike would have any effect? and am unable to attend, but I wish Miss Clyne a great success tonight with her charity concert!

My what a beautiful sunrise! :) Good news everyone, I have found my misplaced schedule book. I really should stop firing secretaries that don't take to my advances, as I dont think I'm able to function without one.

Now where was I again? Oh yes, in order to accomodate for a larger attendance, the Awards Banquet has been moved to Tuesday, Jan. 31 at the Circinius Grand Hotel and Ballroom. I apologize for the inconvenience but I do think the change will be worth it and hope that all invited will be able to attend. Proper notifications will be sent shortly.

[info]crimsonflare, [info]its_so_alright, [info]adiaphorous and [info]01state can I still count on you guys for staff? We're still hiring, of course, if anyone else from the middle class is interested please drop a line here.

ooc:"unofficial business" thread will be opened up soon in the main comm...please, no incriminating comments on this journal :D

As for the usual business, today is the first in a series of marketing presentations to the Military. I'll be at the east and north bases all day representing the Board. I hope it goes well although all the military women I've known are far too serious and constantly on their gaurds :/ With anyluck incoming revenue will balance out the damage costs of two factories that were recently vandalized...

The only thing worse than a board meeting is a committee meeting. Lord Clyne -- so well respected despite his naïveté -- accused me of being an "underhanded lobbyist" for suggesting more liberal solutions to the lowerclass problem. Well I suppose he's more astute than I give him credit. At least I take comfort in actually having solutions aside from vainly wishing to go back to the good ol' days of his generation.

At noon recess I was lucky to run into the charming [info]sugary_beacon. I'd read about her charity work with the middle and lower classes and had been generally impressed with her endeavors. I had no idea she was so young! and attractive Perhaps now there are other ways to conciliating with the Clyne household that doesn't involve me kissing the old man's ass bowing my head.

[oocness time. If you have a character in middle or lower class that wants to attend/observe the banquet, Guin can make it happen, or I can help brainstorm ways to crash. I'd like to get as many people as possible. With anyluck, it won't be as dry as some people think >3 (Anyone seen Fight Club??) I encourage any lower class chars who want higher access, make upperclass connections]

The weekends never brings rest... and good help is so hard to find. Aside from my own help-wanted ad, the company is still looking for event staff for the upcoming banquet. Bartenders and waiters/waitresses are needed.

I'm no narrow-minded exec that is blind to potential because of class barriers. Anyone from the middle and lower levels who is interested in making a bit of money on the side and attending the event, just leave a note in my box here.

In other news, it's too peaceful around here I've been looking into the prospects of underground drilling... but certain laws keep me from outright destroying owning any property in the Old City...

Today's board meeting was almost painful. Everytime I opened my mouth I had to reassure the directors that Lineford industries still had strong ties to the military, and the military had increasing investment in us. Of course I was lying but I wish I wasn't. I've been out of touch with the military contractors.... It's just another net I have yet to cast. The directors kept on-- obviously, the absense of conflict meant the absense of business, there was no need for the the idiots surrounding me keep complaining about it as if I didn't comprehend such a glaring effect. I'm not about to suggest creating conflict with other societies for the sake of business not when I can do so right here, in secret, to the same effect.

It really weighs on me sometimes- acting ignorant, appeasing them, flattering them to hold their personal attatchement. I should just appoint an heir, step down, and own majority stock. Then I may have time to actually work on other pursuits, more important ones.

Wearisome acts to establish ties, endless maintenence--- but the benefits...

It seems my previous wishes for a pet and protégé have been fufilled. >3

I am still looking for a secretary, however :)

More and more work sorting out the awards for the upcoming banquet. Here, I hold in my hands a summary of the years advancements in science and technology and only a few innovative minds seem to grasp my ideals. So many existing machines being slowly upgraded, others fixing the gap left by those breaking down. There is so much wasted effort on maintaining the status quo. What the world -- what mankind-- needs is just two things-- to see higher and to develop a way to get there. Our position in the world is no good if the moon and stars are just out of our reach...

*sigh*

That's for another day I suppose after I take over this sorry excuse for "society". I happened by the Justice and Security chairmen today while visiting a friend. They agree with me on the sorry situation that is the ever present underclass. The middle class is getting frightened, and a few up here have been marked by assasins in the past... It seems our defense forces are too restricted by law to intervene directly in the violent outbursts below them and the idiots can't kill themselves cleanly or swiftly enough. If I we were to control have agents capable of doing the dirtywork needed there may be a way end these worries.

In the meantime, I really can't stand to balance all this-- the banquet, the business and trading, the outreach, the scheming all by myself. I need to find another secretary, though a protégé would be ideal. No blonde's need apply.
